Michael in Search of Lingering Snow on the Peaks

Some call me crazy, and some call me strange. It's fine by me. Originally from Chicago, USA, I have spent a good number of years traveling around America, Europe, and East Asia. Eventually, I decided to settle down at the foot of the beautiful North Japanese Alps of Nagano Prefecture.

I currently live in Matsukawa Village but am in the process of building a 'green' house of my own up in the snowier regions of the North Japanese Alps.

Having spent the last few years teaching mostly junior high school English in Japan, I made a move to teaching elementary school students recently.

Anyone who knows me can tell you what I like. Mountains, snow, and cold... And, I just can't seem to get enough. Being surrounded by nature is what I love most, though. Finding interesting places that no one else seems to know is also something I can call a hobby.

Favorite Kamikōchi spot:

Dakesawa is really a great spot. The approach to Hotaka-dake is right at hand and the view over the Kamikōchi basin is something worth the climb.
